Systemic autoimmune disease in which the antibodies produced by human immune system damage the DNA of healthy cells, mostly damaged connective tissue with the obligatory presence of a vascular component. Disease was named because of its characteristic features - and a rash on the cheeks (the affected area is shaped like a butterfly), which was believed in the Middle Ages, like space wolf bites. The authors concluded that the survival rate 10 years after diagnosis - 80%, in 20 years - 60%. The main causes of death: lupus nephritis, lupus-neuro, intercurrent infection. There are cases of survival of 25-30 years.
